Oh man this is the first episode I ever watched. If I hadn't rewatched everything six months ago, I'd go rewatch everything.

The heightening/speeding of the voices is annoying.

Actually - this is a non-problem. When they didn't receive contact after a while - the base would have opened another worm hole to the gate - and they could have talked to them. The Base could have sent them anything they needed to get their gate to dial home. After all - all they really needed was power which the MALP could have provided - then they could manually rotate the gate to dial home. This was just another episode where the story was about them jury rigging a way to dial the gate. .

Moral: Don't piss a Jafar warrior off.

Their dynamic was so good. Deep down Jack always knew Maybourne was a good egg, he just went about it the wrong the way.

We can sympathise with Carter's frustration, but I do appreciate that there is a greater nuance to the whole thing. There have been cases of hallucinations and whatnot affecting SG-1, so it's not all that unreasonable for outside groups to take things procedurally. And hey, Maybourne pulled through when things went south.
